About

Michael K. Wade, MA, LPC-S, NCC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), as well as a Nationally Board Certified Counselor, and I provide Psychotherapy services to the greater El paso region. My approach to counseling is person-centered. I specialize in providing: *Trauma-informed therapy to our military and civilian community *LGBTQIA therapy for individual on matters of gender identity and/or sexual orientation *I specialize in Addiction therapy/treatment for Alcoholism and Sex addictions Counselor Supervision: I have a counselor that receives direct supervision from me that can see any of my clients that pay out-of-pocket for a lower fee. Please call (915) 277-0300 to ask about this lower price option. This option will not work for people using insurance, as insurance doesn't cover the cost of supervised interns. If you are a cash paying or credit card paying client, this lower cost option may be for you! These interns are directly supervised by me. Frequently Asked Questions regarding payments: 1. How do clients pay for their visits? A: Clients either pay out-of-pocket for each visit using their credit card on file, or they use insurance. 2. Why am I receiving an e-mail from HEADWAY about enrolling my insurance? A: I use a company called HEADWAY to handle all billing for clients that use insurance. You will go to www.headway.co (not .com) and register with HEADWAY. HEADWAY allows you to put in your insurance and it will tell you what your costs per session will be so there are no surprises. On their site you can look for provider by name: Michael K Wade and register as one of my clients. If you skip this step, I will likely log on to Headway and have an e-mail invite sent directly to your e-mail address on file and you can then complete your payment information. Once this step is complete and your insurance is verified, then you are ready for your first appointment. 3. Why is a credit card required before I can make an appointment? A: A credit card is required to be on file to charge things like your co-pay, and charging the cost of your therapy appointment (if you are paying out of pocket), and paying your therapy appointment if you no-show or late cancel in less than 24 hours of your appointment. 4. Why does HEADWAY also want my credit card info? A: When you provide American Counseling Service with your credit card info, we are not able to see your credit card number as a security measure, so when we assist you in enrolling you in Headway so that you can use your insurance, we are not able to add your credit card information to Headway's portal. You must do that yourself. Headway uses your credit card on file to charge your portion of your therapy visit...your co-pay or co-insurance (Your portion of the service not covered by your insurance), as well as no-show/late cancel fees. 5. Why was my credit card charged 1 day before my appointment? I haven't even received services yet and have got charged. A: When you book an appointment, you are agreeing to show up for the appointment and pay for that visit. If you cancel in more than 24 hours, then you will receive no charge. If you cancel in less than 24 hours, you will be responsible for paying the cost of the missed therapy session. We bill within 24 hours of your appointment because you are responsible for paying for the visit if it is less than 24 hours away. If you no-show or late cancel, (within 24 hours) you have already paid for the session. This keeps the no-shows extremely rare (low occurrence), which keeps business costs down so that you get more affordable therapy charges. Therapy practices that have higher no-show rates have to raise their prices to account for that loss. Charging in advance guarantees much less no-shows, which helps keep the therapy fees low. American Counseling Service has not raised their fees in 10 years for this reason.
